The Fresno State women's basketball team picked up two more points in the Associated Press rankings this week and jumped to No. 37, still outside the top 25.
That's the good news. The bad? The Bulldogs' didn't pick up any ground in the NCAA's weekly RPI and remain No. 60, a more accurate barometer of their chances to make the NCAA's 64-team tournament if they don't get an automatic bid.
There once was a day when Fresno State's RPI would rise just by playing Louisiana Tech. Not anymore. The Techsters are 11-11 and at 4-3 third in the WAC, and also sport an RPI of 206.
Fresno State, by the way, beat Louisiana Tech 61-59 in Ruston on Saturday to remain in first place in the WAC standings, despite not hitting one 3-pointer and down the stretch turning over the ball once, missing two layups and a free throw.
