The Fresno State Bulldogs will be in the weight room lifting and back in the gym on Friday, doing some shooting. But it remains to be seen how much guard Kevin Olekaibe will be able to do, after bruising his tailbone taking a hard foul in their victory at Pacific.
Olekaibe, the Bulldogs' leading scorer, was not the same after he was taken down by the Tigers' Ross Rivera with 14:40 remaining. He missed the foul shots and then missed a 3-pointer so badly it went over the rim and hit on the opposite side of the backboard.
But Coach Rodney Terry said he expects the 6-foot-2 sophomore to be ready by Monday when the Bulldogs play Boise State at the Save Mart Center.
''He's going to be fine,'' Terry said. ''He made the right play - he went hard at the basket and the guy made a hard foul. Nothing dirty about it. He took a hard foul. But we've got a good trainer. He'll get him back and ready to go and, you know, just being mentally tough will be the next step for him in terms of bouncing back. But he'll bounce back. He's a tough kid.''
Olekaibe, who scored only nine points in the win at Pacific, has taken some lumps in December. He suffered a sprained ankle in a Dec. 10 loss at Oregon and struggled in the next game, hitting only 3 of 13 shots including 1 of 9 at the 3-point line in a loss to Cal Poly.
