Fresno State men's basketball: Brown on his transfer ...

The last word on the transfer of Daquan Brown out of the Fresno State basketball program comes from Brown, the 6-foot-10 center who is headed to Providence College.

The decision, he said, stemmed more from personal pressures than any conflict or anything that happened within the Bulldogs' program.

''It wasn't like that. The coaching staff there is great, enthusiastic. I actually love the coaches, especially Coach (Jerry) Wainwright. They taught me a lot. It's just I had a lot of pressure on me, like, from other things,'' said Brown, who grew up in Brooklyn before finding his way to Barstow College and signing with Fresno State. ''When I'm back East I will have a lot more family, they can help me out with my daughter and financially. It will be much better.''

With his size, Brown could have helped Fresno State this season. But he never made it onto the court for the Bulldogs -- he was not practicing with the team and looking to transfer before the season started. ''The road to success is always construction, you know?'' he said.
