When the Fresno State Bulldogs take the floor on Friday night at the Save Mart Center in the first game for first-year Coach Rodney Terry, Julius Bilbrew will be back in Los Angeles and most likely either working or working out.
The former Inglewood High guard, who had signed a national letter of intent with Fresno State after leading the Sentinels to a 26-8 record and earning all-league honors, did not enroll in school after running into issues with the NCAA initial-eligibility clearinghouse, which reviews academic records, SAT or ACT scores and the amateur status of prospective student-athletes.
Bilbrew said that he would be enrolling at Cochise College in Douglas, Ariz., in January with plans to earn an associate of arts degree, at which point he again can pursue a Division I scholarship.
That is a long way away, but the Bulldogs still are at the top of his list.
''As of right now, yes, I'm looking forward to going back to Fresno,'' Bilbrew said. ''Fresno is a pretty good fit for me and a pretty good situation.''
