It's official. Fresno State forward Paul George is gone.

Fresno State coach Steve Cleveland said Friday that George, the Bulldogs' leading scorer and rebounder from last season, has signed with agent Aaron Mintz of Priority Sports and Entertainment - the same agent as former Fresno State player and 2007 second-round draft pick Dominic McGuire.

Cleveland said George's departure is no shock.

"He's a projected first round pick," Cleveland said. "Based upon his family and Paul's projections I'm not surprised at all. There seems to be a lot of talk about [an NBA] lockout next year. I'm not saying that had an impact, but there's a lot of guys going out right now ... Paul and his family would not make this decision unless they were confident."

With Ryan Mathews' selection as the No. 12 draft pick in yesterday's NFL Draft, Fresno State fans will have a tough day today as they get word of the loss of their two best athletes on campus.
