The NCAA just won't stay off Emma Andrews' back.
Fresno State's junior guard had to sit out last season and the first three games this season as NCAA penalty for playing just a few minutes in an Australian professional league while she was in high school.
So, why didn't Andrews suit up for the Bulldogs' exhibition against Fresno Pacific last night? Coach Adrian Wiggins is wondering the same thing.
A bewildered Wiggins said Andrews couldn't play until the Dec. 22 home opener against St. Mary's -- the fourth game of the season.
"I don't know," he said. "I was told the date she could start playing and that included the exhibition. But if you're going to include the exhibition, shouldn't that count as one of the games?"
Good point.
An exhibition is basically a controlled scrimmage, not a real game. So, once again, Andrews is penalized by the dunderheads of the NCAA for an innocent act that was needlessly treated like a major violation.
