** McLane has a chance to break a four-year, 25-game losing streak tonight at home against Roosevelt. And, no, the Highlanders didn't break the streak off the field last week with a forfeit win over Wasco, which refused to travel to Fresno for a Thursday game. Central Section commissioner Jim Crichlow has ruled it a "no contest," meaning no win for McLane and no loss for Wasco. That's a good call by the boss, given Wasco intended to play on a Friday -- as the two-year contract read -- all the way.
** I think Central and ex-Clovis West assistant Casey Quinn pick off the Golden Eagles at Veterans Memorial Stadium. CW coach Coby Lindsey said he and his staff are "worried." And there was no doubt he was sincere.
** Has there ever been a Clovis-Clovis East game with less appeal? I don't think so.
** What a boost for unbeaten Reedley and first-class coach Justin Garza to upset Edison tonight. If only he had more ponies.
** There's a couple of little-guy showdowns -- Fowler at Parlier and Strathmore at Woodlake.
