Thoughts post Week 8

** The Edison-Bullard game next Friday at Chukchansi Park presents arguably the best matchup in the Central Section this season with Tigers defensive linemen Rykeem Yates and Wesley Flowers against Knights running backs Devan Mack and Jordan Jones. That's about 1,000 pounds of collision, with speed and athletic ability. Sort of what you'd expect to see on Saturdays. To bad it will be staged in a baseball venue.

** A key for Edison will be the condition of Tevin McDonald, the Tigers' safety and all-purpose offensive player. He played only the first half of their 43-7 win over Hoover before hobbling away for the night with a bad ankle. His father, Edison coach Tim McDonald, hopes he will be "90 to 95%" for Bullard.

** Head-turning score of Week 8: Washington 45, Chowchilla 26 in a game played at D-IV defending champion Chowchilla as Panthers QB Adam McCurley accounts for six

touchdowns. My thought? One: Please, section seeding committee, place Kingsburg and Washington in opposite D-IV brackets in two weeks. Tyler Bray vs. Adam McCurley -- for one last time. What a beauty.

** Tulare 49-14 over Delano a week after the Redskins toyed with Porterville, 56-21. And to think Delano (6-2) and Porterville (5-3) are representing the East Yosemite League well with strong seasons. Here's looking forward to a Tulare-Memorial D-II final.

** If I'm Memorial coach Anthony Goston, my biggest concern is having rolled through the weakest NYL in years prior to the playoffs. Simply not preferred preparation.

** Dos Palos 27, Yosemite 14: Broncos are back, and they'll be better next year.
