Fresno State stumbled a bit to start this game, but the Bulldogs didn't get down on themselves.
They put the foot on the gas against an inferior opponent and slaughtered them, beating San Jose State 41-21.
The Bulldogs feel good about themselves right now, and rightfully so.
"There's a lot of energy on our team right now," said quarterback Ryan Colburn. "We feel that we can be, especially on offense, an explosive group. The last couple weeks you're seeing some good sparks out of our special teams, which is great to see. And also in the last couple of weeks you're seeing some great plays by our defense. We're doing a great job of feeding off each other.
"This team beleives the only people that can stop us are ourselves."
That is certainly true in the coming weeks.
With their toughest opponents behind them, the Bulldogs look to have a favorable road with some challenging peaks in the distance remaining.
They visit a rebuilding New Mexico State team this week and return home to face a rebuilding Utah State team the next week.
Things stiffen after that as they go on the road against a resurgent and already bowl-eligible Idaho team (that I'm still not 100% sold on) and a Nevada team that's gaining momentum after a rough start.
Louisiana Tech has looked great and awful this season, and just what kind of Illinois team will show up to cap the regular season is still unknown.
With half the season gone, the Bulldogs are in decent shape and looking to get some help. They're not in the BCS picture. Not ranked. On the outside of the WAC race looking in. But if they get some help in the form of Boise State losing and continue to grow, maybe just maybe they can grab a share of the title.
