Injuries and impact

Lot of injuries to a lot of key players in the Fresno/Clovis area. Here are the biggies and their impact:

** Bullard quarterback Kerr Taubler (elbow staph infection): Coach Donnie Arax says he'll be back for next week's Edison game. Meanwhile, he'll be replaced tonight against Sanger by brother Ian Taubler, a 6-5, 210-pound sophomore who played quarterback for the JV last year. This means the Knights will increase emphasis on their running game, which is powerful and fast with Jordan Jones, Demetrius Warren and Devan Mack. But a 223-yard per-game passing game will pay severely. A loss tonight for No. 2 Bullard could, ultimately, mean a lower D-I playoff seed and a possible trip into Kern County, which is never good.

** Bullard wide receiver Jajuan Hamond (shoulder): There's depth here, but he's a

difference maker, so this hurts.

** Hoover running back Tevin Ivy (knee): Eric Kendricks, a horse, is now carrying load. And few can do it better in the section. Problem is wear and tear on the athlete who also plays linebacker and punts.

** Edison running back/safety Tevin McDonald (ankle): Monster loss for at least one more game for the Tigers. He's their MVP and one of the section's premier players. Could result in loss to Hoover tonight for an Edison team that has already lost once in the CMAC.

** Clovis West quarterback Ian Hall (collarbone): The sophomore could be back in a week, and he's needed for the 2-5 team that's blowing bubbles.
