Big crowd in Dinuba for Vikings-Emperors

This is what Friday Night Lights is all about.

With a couple minutes left in the junior varsity game, the visitor bleachers are full and the home side is nearly full in anticipation of the Central Sequoia League showdown between 13th-ranked Kingsburg and host Dinuba here at Claud Hebert Field.

It's Dinuba's homecoming, so that gives the festivities an added boost, but the game alone between two talented teams from neighboring communities is what is bringing out a crowd expected to be between 4,000 and 5,000 people. There are so many people here that Dinuba brought in extra bleachers to handle the large crowd from Kingsburg.

The Vikings roll into this game 5-0, having outscored opponents 232-61 behind Tennessee-bound quarterback Tyler Bray and a stout defense featuring Nick Mesa.

Early speculation around the Valley centered around the possibility this would be a 5-0 vs. 5-0 showdown, but Dinuba lost 21-17 to Exeter two weeks ago. Still, the Emperors are a competitive Division III team featuring a strong running game with Demetrius Brinson and James Pelham.

I'll be posting live scoring updates throughout the night. Follow along at www.blitz.fresnobeehive.com.
