A Halloween Monster Mash

The first-place Fresno Monsters take on the Valencia Flyers in a three-game series this weekend and it might get as wild in the stands as on the ice.

Fans are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

Check out a feature in Thursday's Bee on how the Monsters have taken charge of the Western States Hockey League in their inaugural season. They're ranked No. 8 in this week's Junior A Tier III poll that includes six different leagues.

Games are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Selland Arena and 10 a.m. Sunday at Gateway Ice Center. The Monsters will wear special Halloween jerseys Saturday that will be

auctioned after the game, with proceeds going to Children's Hospital Central California.
