A Giant rise in the football poll

College of the Sequoias leaped from 10th to No. 6 in the Northern California JC football rankings this week after knocking off previous No. 5 Fresno City 47-44 on Saturday.

The Rams dropped to No. 7, one spot ahead of Reedley. West Hills is at No. 19.

Sequoias is on track to win its first Valley Conference title in 11 years. It's already beaten Fresno City and Reedley, the preseason favorites.

Saturday's 1 p.m. games: Fresno City hosts Sierra, West Hills hosts Reedley and COS is at San Joaquin Delta
