MADISON, Wis. -- We pause here at Camp Randall Stadium for a little marching band performance and a little traditional ceremony known as halftime, and the glaring topic to discuss is this offense.
Wowzers. Where did this come from? This is an offense you could watch and not want to gouge out your own eyes with chopsticks. They're actually throwing the ball over the middle. They tried a reverse wide receiver pass. They've done some late-developing screens. They're figuring out way to get the ball to the most dangerous player, and right now that is Devon Wylie. What a half he had. He really is noticeably faster than last year.

Two quick useless updates ... No. 1: They serve cheese and brats in the press room here at Camp Randall. It's nice to see that. A lot of states talk about the state food a lot, and then you go to Vermont and expect everyone to be guzzling maple syrup. Frankly, it's disappointing when they aren't. Wisconsin is the real deal. They really do live on brats and cheese and beer. It's not just for special occasions.
No. 2: Former Fresno State quarterback and current color commentator Jordan Christensen just told me he's training for the Fresno marathon. It's actually called the Eye-Q Two Cities Marathon. It's coming up, Nov. 8. You should be doing it, too. I'm running it. Not with Jordan, he's probably much faster than me. We both agreed that running stinks.
