A lot of thrills, another loss

Well, Bulldog Stadium is emptying. The band is finally running out of wind -- just like the Bulldogs did against No. 10 Boise State, losing 51-34.

Fresno State stayed in this thing thanks in large part to Ryan Mathews showing a national TV audience that he has Sunday-special speed up the middle. Quarterback Ryan Colburn had a gritty performance, too, despite hearing murmurs and boos from the crowd, likely calling for a replacement.

But Colburn kept driving, even knocking himself out of the game -- for only two plays, though -- after tucking the ball on 4th-and-8 midway through the fourth quarter and barreling through two Broncos on his way to a first down. It was quite the collision of the night, and epitomized the Bulldogs' effort -- they believed they were gonna win this one, but they just couldn't keep up with the Broncos at the end.
