What to expect in Friday's scrimmage

Fresno State football coach Pat Hill gave us a hint of what to expect during Friday's 2:30 p.m. open scrimmage, the first of three for the Bulldogs this spring.

He said they would likely have 20 plays of regular downs. The rest of the downs (about 50 or 60) would start at the 50 yard-line with a minute on the clock (like it's the end of the half) or start at the defense's 25-yard line, Hill said.

"We're going to make it as competitive as we can and make it as tough a situation on the quarterbacks [as possible]," Hill said.

He added that it will be difficult for the quarterbacks to work on 2-minute drills and in the compete zone "where the windows are small" because they will be in just their seventh day of spring ball.

Said Hill: "We have to find out as much as we can now."
