Looking for the no-no

It's pretty amazing that Fresno State softball ace Morgan Melloh doesn't have a no-hitter by this time in her college career. The lefty has won 59 games already and struck out 712. She's done just about everything in the circle except pitch that elusive gem.

This is how close she's gotten: eight one-hitters and 10 two-hitters. This year against Providence she lost a no-hit bid against Providence with two outs in the seventh of a game the 'Dogs won 1-0 in eight innings. She lost a no-hitter with one out in the seventh against San Jose State. And most recently, Pacific broke up a no-hitter with two outs in the seventh last week. It's only a matter of time before Melloh gets the no-no. Wouldn't it be grand for the 'Dogs if it came in the championship game of an NCAA regional? The way things are going, that's about the only way Fresno State can advance to the Super regionals.
