Closer to the bubble

Fresno State's softball team can pretty much nail down an NCAA tournament at-large bid by taking care of Nevada this weekend at Bulldog Diamond. They square off Friday at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m. for a doubleheader on Saturday.

Neither team is ranked. The Wolf Pack has an RPI of 44 and the Bulldogs 49. First place Nevada leads Fresno State and Hawaii by two games in the loss column in the WAC. The Bulldogs can't afford to sink much lower in the RPI or they could see an end to their streak of 27 straight appearances in the NCAA postseason tournament.
