Cancer survivor Rachael Donaldson, a starting outfielder on Fresno State's 2004-05 teams, will be back in town throwing out the first pitch in Friday's 6 p.m. game against Hawaii at Bulldog Diamond.

It's Cancer Awareness Night along with a blood drive and donations are needed.

Donaldson contracted stage 4 soft-tissue sarcoma at the end of the 2005 season. She's had several surgerys, chemo therapy, lost her hair and had a knee replaced.

I'll be getting in touch with Rachael soon to give you the lowdown on her progress and what's she up to since she left school.
