Chowchilla 8, Kingsburg 0: Chowchilla takes the early lead on a two-play drive. It helps that one of those plays was a 63-yard TD run by Fred Gaines.

The Redskins add the 2-point conversion on a run by Dylan Wood.

Chowchilla forces Kingsburg to turn the ball over on downs late in the first quarter, stopping the Vikings at the 2-yard line after first-and-goal.
7:25 p.m.: They've finished the first quarter in Chowchilla.
Chowchilla 14, Kingsburg 0: Another two-play drive gives Chowchilla a two-TD lead with 8:11 left in the second quarter. The score comes on Rob Diepersloot's 29-yard pass to Kyle Espinola; the run for 2 points was stopped short.
7:36 p.m.: A trade of turnovers benefits Kingsburg, since the Vikings recover a fumble in their end zone to avert another Chowchilla score.

London Lacy is in at QB in place of Tyler Bray -- not an unusual change this season by Kingsburg.

7:48 p.m.: Kingsburg turns the ball over on downs near the goal line again, this time on an incomplete pass on fourth down from the 15. A late hit by Chowchilla is flagged, but ruled post-possession and the Redskins take over.
7:52 p.m.: Turnover city -- Kingsburg gets the ball back on a fumble, 39 seconds left. Tyler Bray is back at QB.
8:01 p.m.: Kingsburg tries a long field goal as the first-half clock expires. It's short, and Chowchilla leads 14-0 at halftime.
8:20 p.m.: Jeff Davis provides some more perspective from the end of the first half:

The Redskins avert danger twice in the second quarter to maintain the shutout.

First, they stop Kingsburg on downs after it had the ball first-and-goal at the 6.

Then in the final minute, Kingsburg drives to the Chowchilla 16 with 10 seconds left. Two downs go nowhere, so the Vikings set up for a 40-yard field goal try by Justin Morino and it's blocked by Fred Gaines as time runs out.

Chowchilla had a chance to make it 21-0 when it recovered a fumble at the Kingsburg 5. But Kyle Espinola fumbled into the end zone on the first play and Kingsburg recovered in the end zone.

Bray is 6 for 15 for 41 yards in the first half. He was pulled for London Lacy for two series. Lacy is 7 for 11 for 57 yards.

Gaines has carried 6 times for 81 yards and the touchdown.

Chowchilla still leads 14-0 entering the fourth quarter.

Third-quarter highlight: Daniel Gutierrez intercepted Bray in the end zone to stop an early drive.

8:58 p.m.: Midway through the fourth quarter, Fred Gaines makes an interception for Chowchilla, and the Redskins appear to be taking a strong hold on this one.
Chowchilla 20, Kingsburg 0: Gaines scores again, this time on a 73-yard slam up the middle. He breaks a couple tackles on the way, capping a five-play, 93-yard drive.

The pass conversion failed, but the Redskins are in control. Gaines is at 168 yards on 10 carries. Kingsburg QB Bray is 19 of 38 for 203 yards.

9:14 p.m.: Chowchilla intercepts Bray in the end zone again, and the Redskins will look to run out the clock.
