And the Highlight of the Day From New Mexico So Far ...

The Fresno State Drum Line absolutely killing it ... which is a good thing.

Fresno State's three-man line of Ryan Dirlam (bass), Elias Kwak (snare) and Corey Shuman (quads) even had the CSU drum line shaking their heads and smiling as F. State layed down some beats in the hotel hallway that couldn't help but pump my adrenaline level.

That was much needed after the day's press conference, which was cool because I needed to get some quotes, but lacked the excitement I wanted to see. The set up was like a boxing weigh-in where the podium was in the middle with the coach and two players from each team on opposite sides. ...

But no one was talking junk. No sucker punches were thrown either. The only contact made was when Fresno State coach Pat Hill patted CSU coach Steve Fairchild on the shoulder after throwing a joke that missed high and to the right. Where was Don King when you needed him?

I was looking for some Mike Tyson-esque pregame smack talk. Maybe for a threat for someone to eat someone else's children in the same breath as a praise to God.

"There's never been anyone as ruthless," Mike Tyson said after one fight and before his long awaited bout with Lennox Lewis. "Lennox is a conquereor? No! I'm Alexander [The Great]. He's no Alexander. ... There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable. And I'm just ferocious. I want your heart. I wanna eat his children. Praise be to Allah!"

I guess the entertainment from the teams will have to wait until Saturday, which is a great thing for the schools and society as a whole.
