Fresno State coach Pat Hill had hoped it'd be discrete.
That if he ever moved out of Fresno State or applied elsewhere, no one would know.
But that's not going to happen.
And Hill had to admit Sunday that he spent parts of Saturday in Seattle, interviewing for the Washington job.
He refused to answer questions and only provided a brief statement as he spoke about 30 minutes before Sunday's awards banquet. It wasn't exactly the best setting for an interview about a sensitive topic, but it was Hill who refused to return calls Saturday.
Hill said Washington administrators, assumed to be president Mark Emmert and/or athletic director Scott Woodward, shared their vision of the football program.
Hill shared his vision and plans.
Hill said Washington contacted Fresno State president John Welty last week, though on Friday after Fresno State's loss to Boise State, he had denied being in contact with Huskies officials.
Hill essentially said the Washington opening would be a challenging but potentially rewarding job.
Then, he turned around and walked away from the group of reporters, though he initially stated he'd take questions for two minutes and two minutes only. He spoke for a mere 54 seconds.
Hill did not mention anything about the Washington job or the circulating rumors of his job searching during the Sunday banquet.
He does not have a press conference scheduled this Monday with Fresno State's regular season complete. So it's unclear when Hill will make his next public statement.
But this much is known:
At some point, Hill will have to talk more and discuss why he interviewed, how his job search could affect the team and recruiting. Because the questions always will be waiting to be asked.
And if he returns for a 13th season, it would appear that Hill might have to figure out a way to sell something new to Fresno State fans.

This would be a perfect fit for Pat Hill. He will be at a school and a conference where he can compete to get to the BCS. However, this team didnt win a game. Pat Hill is great at building a program. He lacks in the actual coaching piece. Now that we have the players, the recruits, and somewhat of a reputation, I say Thank You Pat Hill, but now its time for McELWAIN!!!!!
Bring Willy Robinson back home....
