King George's dunk

Here's the latest Paul George dunk. He would be the rather talented freshman for Fresno State whom I wrote about in this column today.

That is nothing short of absurd. That led off the SportsCenter highlights. The interesting part to me, though, is how calm George is after the dunk. He just runs to the other end of the floor like he was expecting it. There are NBA players who would absolutely lose their minds if they made that dunk. I'm not a fan of showboating, or of Ocho Cinco, or any of that, but if I had just made that dunk, I would run to the scorer's table, ask for a pen, then fill out invitations to a highlight watching party for the next night.

It happened in the 11 p.m. Monday game between the Bulldogs and Saint Mary's, part of that day-night marathon of basketball ESPN was using to kick off the college basketball season. So some teams had to play at odd times.

It was too late to make the papers and that night's highlight shows. By the next Tuesday night, though, the dunk was getting thousands of clicks on Youtube, and was apparently the lead highlight on SportsCenter. I'm going to make a bold prediction: This will not be Paul George's last dunk.
