Clovis East 28, Buchanan 20 FINAL: Buchanan gets a fourth-down conversion near midfield Nigel Simmons' third TD, a 1-yard run wtih 4:47 left, gets Buchanan within a score, but the PAT is blocked. ... 9:02, they're headed to the fourth quarter. ... 8:05 p.m. update -- Two scores each for Paul Jimenez and Taylor Scott. ... Taylor Scott scores on a 21-yard run to put the Timberwolves up two scores on the top-seeded Bears. ... A blocked punt sets up another score. Paul Jimenez has scored on a 4-yard TD run and Scott has a 78-yard TD run. ... Nigel Simmons puts Buchanan on the board with a 2-yard TD run in the third quarter, and adds another 2-yard TD run as the Bears continue to rally.

Edison 7, Memorial 3 FINAL: An interception ends a good SJM drive, and Edison is going to hang on to win this one. ... We'll put the cart before the horse and tell you that Marquise Cooper scored on a 4-yard run on third-and-2 with 1:24 to play, and Kenny Travis kicks the key extra point. Now, for the amazing narrative of that Tigers drive: A good return on a pooch kick sets up Edison at midfield. A dropped pass to a wide-open receiver is a setback for the Tigers. ... A second-down screen pass loses yardage, and Edison calls its first timeout with 4:11 left to discuss its options on third-and-11. ... Tulare 49, Hoover 6 FINAL: Tevin Ivy's 97-yard kickoff return breaks the shutout. ... Jontell Reedom scores on an 11 yard run to put tulare up 49-0 with 10:35 left in game. ... The Redskins don't waste any time, scoring on the first play of the game, a 65-yard TD pass from James Guerrero to Marquis Wilson. ... Three plays, two scores for Tulare as Calvin Haynes catches a 38-yard TD pass from Guerrero. ... Oh, yeah, the top-seeded and undefeated Redskins also have a pretty good running back. It's six plays, three scores for Tulare as Reedom scores on a 27-yard run. ... Sanger 41, North 20 FINAL: Zach Ewing, the fine preps beat writer at the Bakesfield Californian, is covering this matchup -- the best one tonight in Bakersfield. The fifth-seeded Apaches have rushed for two TDs, the second on Mario Navaratte's 85-yard run. ... It's getting ugly. North turns it over on a botched pitch, and the Stars' best player, Julian Dean-Johnson, mouths off to the officials. He gets tagged with an unsportsmanlike and an ejection, and Sanger adds a TD.

El Diamante 35, West 31 SECOND HALF: Wow, El D has made an amazing rally after trailing 35-14 at halftime. ... We kid you not; here's the report from Visalia, courtesy of Bakersfield Californian reporter Jeff Evans: West ran off 17 consecutive points. El D has fumbled four times and thrown an interception.

Chowchilla 28, Kerman 3 FINAL: Chowchilla's Fred Gaines busts a run outside for a 40-yard TD -- his third score of the night, second rushing -- and Rob Dierpersloot's 2-point coversion pass makes it 28-3. With 2:30 to play, this one's just about over. ... Jose Magana salvages a 14-play, 66-yard drive for Kerman, nailing a 42-yard field goal with 9:06 to play to get the Lions on the scoreboard. ... The fourth quarter has started in Chowchilla, and the game finally sees its first completed pass as Kerman's Juan Gonzalez gets behind the Chowchilla defense for a 35-yard pickup from quarterback Johnny Carrillo with 11:31 to play. It's still 20-0 Chowchilla. ... Chowchilla quarterback Rob Diepersloot torches Kerman on a 58-yard bootleg keeper for a touchdown, then passes to Kyle Espinola for a 2-point conversion with 3:44 to go in the third quarter. ... HOT GAME Washington 29, Exeter 28 FINAL: Cameron Loeffler takes the kickoff and returns to the Exeter 30 with 22 seconds left. ... Here's the wild finish: Exeter lines up in the I and throws a pass incomplete. On second down, Washington is flagged for pass interference, setting up Exeter at its own 45 with 10 seconds left. The Kingsburg players continue to chant "Defense." ... Exeter has called a timeout. ... Donzelle Amey intercepts a pass intended for Cameron Loeffler with 3 seconds left at the Washington 25. IT'S OVER, McCurley takes a knee. ... and Kingsburg players sprint onto the field to congratulate Washington players. ... With 1:02 to go, Washington has the ball first-and-10 at the Exeter 14. ... Eddie Daniels rips the ball out of Cameron Loeffler's hands in the end zone for a 14-yard TD and Washington leads. Did anyone proofread this blog for typographical errors, grammatical errors, and content errors before it was published? Half of these game recaps make no sense whatsoever, and obviously contain factual errors - El Diamante could not have been down by 35 points, and then won 35-31.

Let's get with the program here!
