Steve Detwiler hit his second home run of the game, a three-run blast into the left-field stands that sent Fresno State ahead 6-0 after 5 1/2 innings.

Detwiler becomes the fourth player to hit two homers in a championship game. It was Detwiler's 12th homer of the year.

Entering the day, Detwiler was hitting .256 for the season and just .231 in six College World Series games (6 of 26).
