Sean Bonesteele struck out the first batter in the bottom of the ninth. But after walking and hitter a batter, Brandon Burke was called from the bullpen. Burke walked the first batter he faced. Ryan Sontag followed with a run-scoring single to make it 12-6. Jason Kipnis then laced a 2-run single to make it 12-8 with one out and runners on first and second. Brett Wallace then flied out to left for two outs. Ike Davis followed with a run-scoring single to make it 12-9. Petey Paramore walks to load the bases. Matt Newman, who had hit two home runs in the game, flew out to left field to end the game.

The Bulldogs have loaded the bases with one out and Danny Muno at the plate. Muno struck out looking. Gavin Hedstrom gets hit by a pitch to force in a run and give the Bulldogs a 6-5 lead. Erik Wetzel followed with a 3-run double to put Fresno State up 9-5. Steve Susdorf then hit a 2-run home run to give the Bulldogs an 11-5 lead. No. 9 hitter Danny Grubb reaches base for the third time, this one on an error by shortstop Greg Bordes, who tried to field the ball back-handed. On a three-two count, Danny Muno follows with a strikeout on the outside corner. Hedstrom follows with a fielder’s choice on a check swing, and Erik Wetzel, facing an 0-2 count, gets on base with an error by third baseman Brett Wallace. Up to bat is Steve Susdorf, who connects with a single up the middle and over the head of pitcher Ike Davis and into center field. Gavin Hedstrom rounds home from second to tie the game at 5-5 and Fresno State has runners on first and third. Davis is removed for Mike Leake, who threw 7 2/3 innings Saturday. Leake gets out of the inning.

Holden Sprague comes in to relieve Jason Breckley in the bottom of the fifth. Matt Newman hit a 2-out home run -- his second home run tonight -- to give Arizona State a 5-4 lead. Sprauge would load the bases but get out without giving up another run.
Fresno State had runners on first and second with one out after Alan Ahmady doubled and Steve Detwiler was hit by a pitch. But the Bulldogs couldn't take advantage and the score remained tied after the bottom of the fifth.

The game is tied 4-4 after Arizona State's Matt Newman pounds his first pitch of the fourth for a solo home run over the right-field wall. A walk and a single placed runners on first and second with one out. Reliever Jason Breckley came in and walked Jason Kipnis to load the bases with two outs. Alan Ahmady stabbed a liner by Brett Wallace to end the inning.
Fresno State loaded the bases with one out after Danny Grubb's hit, Danny Muno's walk and Gavin Hedstrom's hit by pitch. But the Sun Devils got out of it without giving up a run when reliever Ike Davis got Erik Wetzel to ground into an inning-ending doubleplay.

In the bottom of the first, Justin Miller allowed a single and a walk, then threw a wild pitch to place runners on second and third. Arizona State cleanup hitter Ike Davis then hit a soft single to shallow left field for the game’s first run. Petey Paramore followed with a run-scoring single. Miller got out of the first with a double-play ground ball.
The Fresno State baseball team went down 1-2-3 in the top of the first inning today against Arizona State in the deciding game of the NCAA Tempe Super Regional.
Fresno State is starting Justin Miller on the mound and Arizona State goes with lefty Matt Newman (1-0, 4.60 ERA), who is making just his fourth start of the year. A freshman, Newman was a high school All-American. Miller (6-3, 4.62) makes his second appearance of the Super Regional. He gave up two hits in 1 2/3 innings in relief Saturday.
The winner will advance to the College World Series.
