During the recent lightning storm that blew though the Valley, I decided to grab my camera and take a seat by my garage door to try to capture a bolt or two. I was successful in getting a couple of bolts in one frame just by trying to react as soon as the sky began to light up. Then as seen in the second photo, I reacted just as a huge lightning bolt went right through the middle of the sky. The enormous light it produced lit up the street like it was daytime! The light was many stops higher than I anticipated in my exposure, leaving the frame bursting with the white light. The accompanying thunder was equally as impressive - prompting my wife to call me indoors.
