Komen reverses course Planned Parenthood funding

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast-cancer charity decided today to continue to give money to Planned Parenthood after an intense public backlash over its move to defund the agency.

The Associated Press had first reported that "Komen had adopted criteria excluding Planned Parenthood from future grants for breast-cancer screenings because it was under government investigation, citing a probe launched by a Florida congressman at the urging of anti-abortion groups."

That set off a torrent of criticism, including donors threatening not to give money to Komen in the future. Donations to Planned Parenthood (more than $900,00 at this posting) increased following the initial news of the Komen defunding decision.

Not another dime to komen---prostate cancer instead!

Cancer is "Big Business" and obviously..."Big Politics" also.

What color ribbon, wrist band or T-Shirt should I wear to protest their decision?

Robert Genini hits the nail squarely on the head in his letter to the editor...we now all know that they help fund "Planned Parenthood" and there are a lot of other "Breast Cancer" charities, that although not as PR savvy, support research and prevention...also eye-opening is that there are seven(yes seven) affiliates of the Komen group in CA alone...sounds like "Big Business" to me.

Whats the difference between a government grant and a loan?
