Supporters of gay marriage lost a crucial vote in Maine Tuesday in an election that had national implications on the trend toward acceptance of same-sex marriage. Maine's voters repealed a state law that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed. But this is what has supporters of gay marriage worried: The issue has been defeated in all 31 states in which voters have had a chance to cast ballots on the question.
The polls had the measure close in Maine, but the opponents of gay marriage were able to pull ahead at the end. The final vote was not close with the measure going down on a 53% to 47% vote.
It was a year ago that voters in California overturned same-sex marriage when they passed Proposition 8.
Proof that moose hunters who sacrifice time in the woods for a just cause can make a difference. I understand from one report that wedding cakes which had been prepared in advance have been put on standby, a sign that adults can surely suffer the pitfalls of immediate gratification. To their credit I have heard no reports of disappointed crowds forming in the icy intersections of Portland. By the way, L.L. Bean makes fine blaze hunting packs.

Hmmm! "Gay Marriage" even too much for one of the most leftist and contrarian states in the union. Interesting!
A 31 and 0 record in states where gay marriage is put to the test shows there is still hope for our country, family values, and that common sense can prevail over political and media pressure. They could push gay marriage through a lot quicker if they would just push it through without allowing the public to vote. The media and most politicians seem to think that most Americans are too stupid to make decisions on their own in the first place.
I agree that there is hope for our country and the values it was founded on if we all just stick to our values and speak out. We will not be pushed around. Obama will probably push it through to get votes since he is losing so much support for his stupidity and lack of experience.
