California's elected officials would rather whine about Calfiornia's water crisis than actually do something about it. For them, it makes for better politics to finger-point than to do the hard work of crafting a water plan that works for all Californians.
But don't let them fool you. The California Legislature and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger have the power to solve this problem if they would only do it. Click here to read what The Fresno Bee editorial board has to save about the state's water problems.
I agree the time is overdue for good leaders to move from their entrenched positions and toward a consensus on good water management - to ensure our future and a future for coming generations. But if our budget crisis is any indication, that ability to compromise for the greater good is not a value held in high esteem by our legislators. They seem far more interested in rhetoric than in acting with statesmanship.
Maybe some one should explain to the governor that the central valley is like john Connor and the fed is like the t-1000. In order to insure the survival of john Connor he needs water. The governor must combat the t-1000 in order to secure the survival of john Connor. After the water rights are secured then the governor must then view the water as Dominick (from kindergarten cop) he must protect Dominick from the bad people .
