It is too bad that conservatives need to run on a platform of family values. If it weren't for that, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

It just seems unreasonable that he would publicly promote the sanctity of marriage while in private disregarding all that he stands for.

He is weak and shallow and should never be allowed to run this country.

If his name would have been, "John Edwards," the press would have helped him cover it up for a year or two. He’s done something that's brave as well as unusual, admitted his wrong doing in public without being forced to do so and is dealing with his "sin" - unlike Dem slime like John Edwards, who is still in various stages of denial.

It’s not like conservatives are perfect! Far from it! But at least here is one taking responsibility for his actions - albeit a little late! That makes him different from some recent Dem adulterers - not much better, mind you, but a little different.

Hypocrisy yes, but unless an adulterer is a complete idiot I believe that there is little internal conflict in promoting the sanctity of marriage. They must eventually realize what a wonderful trust between a man and woman they have broken, and course regret immensely.

There's nothing partisan here. Like TC says, conservatives are not perfect, and for that matter, neither are liberals. For every one you find on one side, you'll find one on the other side to match. One thing all of them have in common is that they try and cover it up until they are caught, or about to be. That's when they "bravely" confess.....and not before.

I always find it funny how one side will jump at the chance to hang someone from the other camp and then generalize.

As far as I'm concerned on the sanctity of marriage, anyone who has ever cheated on a spouse, divorced a spouse or seriously broken their vows, has lost their right to preach. And of course, you know me, doesn't matter if it's men or women, same sex or opposite.

When you climb up onto a 'holier than thou soapbox' your fall should be a little louder.
At least, in this case the 'other' was a 'woman'.
