At least there will be one-liners during Senate speeches, even if the public's work seldom gets done. Al Franken is a United States senator. Everybody gets a copy of his book, "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot."
Read about the latest -- and final -- chapter of the 2008 Minnesota Senate race here:
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Democrat Al Franken says he's "so thrilled" to finally be celebrating a victory after nearly eight months of recounts and courtroom fights in Minnesota's Senate race.
Franken spoke in Minneapolis on Tuesday soon after Republican Norm Coleman conceded the election. Coleman's concession came after the Minnesota Supreme Court said Franken should be certified as the winner.
Franken says he's "thrilled and honored by the faith Minnesotans have placed in me." He says he can't wait to get started, and believes he'll be sworn in next week.
Franken says he expects to sit on a few Senate committees, including Judiciary. That would put him in place to take part in Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor's confirmation hearings.
I’m thinking of a song .... "Send in the Clowns".... Somehow it seems appropriate here. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Franken wasn’t particularly funny as a comedian; somehow I don’t think he’ll be funny as a senator.
Of course on the other hand, he does seem a pretty good fit for the Obama administration. Just another flunky to take dictation from Corruptocrat Rahm Emanuel. Kiss the ring, Al! Kiss the ring!
Another example of someone who is eligible, but not qualified. The Obama (also eligible, but not qualified) administration will have its way with the Senate now that the Democrat Party has a filibuster-proof majority. The country is doomed over the next several years. January 2013 can't get here soon enough- I just hope there will be a country left by then.
No need to worry. Joe Feldon probably in 2012 the country may be just like in 2008. President Obama seems to back track one by one on every important vote-getter campaign promise. By November 2012 he may be a stalwart Conservative regardless of Senate or the House of Representatives. Is that what want? No it is what I fear.
Bush was "qualified" yet ran our Country into the ground.
How much of a Country were we left with after Bush was in Office? All this "doom" happened on Obama's watch? This is humor at it's best.
Rich...why are you giving the democrat(3 years and counting)controlled congress a free pass?Your "Bush Derangement Syndrome" is flaring up again and clouding your understanding.
Another catabolic element added to the d-party senatorial lineup. Anybody who has listened to Air America radio knows that Mr. Franken is incapable of normal conversation. The station was an utter failure because it could not develop or retain enough sponsors due to its vitriolic content. The left, who it claimed to represent, would not even support them and the original program dove into bankruptcy during a Bush adminstration. When challenged with a rational idea, it is not long before Franken spontaneously spatters venom on normal people. I give him one term, then he will be gone with the rest of the incumbents.
And that is funny (as in unusual). I did not have the foggiest idea who Al Franken is. I had to go to "search." I did not recognize him from his pictures. I guess my eyes were focused on Sacramento, with my hands over my pockets, trying to hold on to their meager contents. No time for...where? Oh! Minnesota!
