Schwarzenegger tells how he approached budget negotiations

Gov. Arnold Schwarznegger wrote an op/ed explaining how the state budget negotiations went down. The Legislature finally passed a package of budget bills early Thursday closing the state's $42 billion budget gap. Click here to read the governor's commentary.

"Legislators who voted for this budget plan should be applauded for refusing to repeat that typical mistake of simply pushing our problems into next year, and for standing up to intense political pressure," Schwarzenegger said in today's op/ed piece.

Maybe Mr. Muscle had been carefully selected to cause the electorate to begin to hate the Democratic majority. I still believe that the rogue Republican neo-cons are determined to make California a Republican state. And the true blue Republicans may rue the day they played along. Because not every good Republican is rich. And the pure and naive who still reject the existence of long range conspiracies in todays politics is exactly that...naive. I have been to town and still learning.

I don't believe it. I think he made them watch Conan reruns.

Arnold has a lot more faith in the new budget than I think should be there. It is only a patch to buy time to BEGIN taking steps to correct California's fiscal problems. He speaks about how the rainy day fund will make things better and it will; however, the fundamental problems with California's spending have not been resolved. There is MUCH to be done. He talks about it; however, I don't think they still get it that taxpayers want things really scaled back. People who know how to handle their finances never touch their rainy day fund even in years that are terrible because they don't have to. That's where we need to get our state to. We are still light years away. Taxpayers can not stop pushing them now or they will fall back into complacency. We need to ramp up our efforts in pushing them to do what's right.

Language can be used like a garbage bag twist. It can be bent many ways. But Arnold, budget and faith just don't sync. In his post election new broom phase, how much money did he borrow to make California happy?
