The Rio Mesa area of southeast Madera County has been targeted for massive residential development for years. Madera County officials love the idea of 100,000 new residents just across the river from Fresno County. Not everyone else shares their enthusiasm.
The problem, as we discuss in this editorial today, is the absence of comprehensive planning for this huge development. That's made Rio Mesa a "litigation magnet," with lawsuit after lawsuit filed by water interests, environmentalists, conservationists and folks on the Fresno side who see nothing but problems with the various projects that add up to Rio Mesa.
Madera County officials want 100.000 new residents cluttering up the land along the river.
Like my Yankee hubby believes that "people in hell want ice water."
"...and folks on the Fresno side who see nothing but problems with the various projects that add up to Rio Mesa..."
Looks like that beehive bloggers had no problem with it. But someday all may cry ach and alas because of insuffciant water supply. I saw an item on European TV, commenting that the Western United States shall have wars over water.
