Here's another dumb idea from Bill Maze

Former Assembly Member Bill Maze. the Lapdog Lawmaker from Visalia, keeps coming up with stupid ideas. The latest brain freeze from Maze is to divide California into two states. But Maze wants to split off the affluent parts of the state on the coast from the rest of us in interior California.

Well, he'll show them. The coastal folks from Los Angeles to Marin would be the rich state and we'd be part of a very poor state. So Maze wants to turn Valley counties and the rest of inland California into Appalachia West just so the liberals in Los Angeles and San Francisco wouldn't be part of his state. You think our taxes are high now. We need those rich liberals subsidizing us.

I am so glad this guy is no longer in the Legislature. He's the lawmaker, you might remember, who wanted a law banning dogs from sitting in the laps of motorists. Not safe, but we don't need another law to tell us that. We need police to enforce laws against people who are driving unsafely. The police have that authority now. The lapdog bill by Maze is why he earned the nickname Lapdog Lawmaker.

Here's today's editorial in The Fresno Bee on the Maze plan to split the state. Guess where the editorial board came down on Lapdog's latest plan?

This guy has clearly got brain damage from breathing in all the bull---- fumes heading south as well as from the legislative offices. We know it is deep in there.

The geography of it is not very realistic, but it's not a bad idea to get rid of those liberal voters who seem to have the annoying effect to screw up the 99 corridor agenda in every election. That Visalian seems to suffer from the Kern County syndrome. Sorry that I can't dispatch my roaring laughter

I would never rule it out completely. The idea is not the sole property of Mr. Maze, who apparently does not measure up to Mr. Boren's high standard. I would prefer to stay and help reassume stewardship of the states water resources and ulitize the infrastructure available as it was originally intended...by normal, hardworking taxpayers.

This Bill Maze Character - A good example of a person who better be a politician because he could never make it for long in the private sector. Go vote yourself a secret raise along w/ the other Visalians and leave the "thinking out of the box" to people who have been there and done that.

It could work if it was divided by three.Give the libs the coast divided in two and the hard working folks( mostly conservatives)get the rest with all the farmland, forests and control of the water. If we could keep all the PEU's,illegals, and environmentalists out of "New Cali" prosperity would abound and some of us could ..."Live Happily Everafter".

I like Brian's approach! Then all we'd have to do is wait for the "Big One"...and then us hicks in New Cali could really "Live Happily Everafter".

I for one would vote to separate California. There are too many people who
believe they can vote for themselves gifts and services from the California
treasury (by voting democrat) where they rarely contribute if at all. An already
tiny few pay the vast majority of taxes and the real producers of this state are
vilified for being successful and hard working. Enough money has been given to
social programs in the last 65 years to buy all the commercial real estate in
the United States. We, as voters, should learn from our history and the history
of socialism in Europe, these programs are designed to give power to government
over the people. My parents left England to escape socialism and immigrated to
Canada (legally) and as a young man I left Canada to escape the same thing I saw
taking over that country. I have seen the same arguments here over the 25 years
I've been living here. More welfare, national health, two languages, the rich are
evil, illegal immigration not a big deal, dumbing down of the public schools, the
media hijacked by the left, the average voter has no idea what there voting for
or why.
For those worried about the new "Cali" don't. If it did happen we would be the
most prosperous state in the union by far. But, only until we're over come with
complacency and apathy. Liberals are like jackals. They pray on the weak and the
young. Conservatives work hard and long. We don't have the luxury to have
someone else pay for our felt needs while we implement ideology.
So could the left coast survive without us? No.
Mr. Maze, be sure to include orange county.

I think his idea is great because all the liberals make this state terrible. I hope everything works out the way bill has planned bucause he is a very smart and great man. I am so glad he is helping out the state by trying to split iy in half.

Rob Cook is absolutely right! I've been to England and Europe. Socialism is a FAILURE. I would be in the RED part (conservative) of CA. History repeats itself, only the foolish fail to learn from history. See the last election results? Democrats SPEND, Spend, spend! As a native Texan living in california, I am all for splitting the state up.I have nothing in common with the homosexual, liberals etc on the coast and in big cities of CA., except in SOME cases a common language. Liberalism is all about the lazy, uneducated getting their mouths on the Gov't tit! Somebody has to pay for this! Who wants to give Govt more tax dollars? Is Govt efficient w/ tax dollars? Absolutely not! Big Govt is NOT the solution, it is the PROBLEM! Split CA!
