Are you ready to sort out another batch of state ballot measures? You'll be voting on six of them in less than three months. In California, we have an election every year -- even in the so-called "off years." So study up.
The May 19 special election that's part of the state budget solution will contain these Propositions, according to The Sacramento Bee:
Proposition 1A: Is a spending cap based on the rate of growth from the last 10 years. If approved, it would extend the length of the taxes approved by the Legislature.
Proposition 1B: Changes the state's education funding law -- Proposition 98 -- for supplemental education payments to local districts due to recent budget cuts.
Proposition 1C: Borrows from future lottery earnings.
Proposition 1D: Takes money from the First 5 Commissions -- the Proposition 10 funds -- to help balance the state budget.
Proposition 1E: Takes money from the Mental Health Services Act -- the Proposition 63 funds -- to help balance the state budget.
Proposition 1F: Prevents state-level elected officials from receiving pay raises in years when the state is running a deficit.
Oh, God. Here we go again.
AMEN!
Look at Prop 1A -- leave it to our esteemed legislature to tie those together. Another no-win situation.
Prop 1A - So, if we vote for a spending cap, which is smart, we pay higher taxes for a longer time, which is stupid.
Can't wait to see how the proponents sell this thing.
1A addresses both taxes and spending cap. Sounds like to subjects to me; a violation of the one subject rule for initiatives. I'm prepared to vote no on all.
Proposition 1A: 1)Is a spending cap based on the rate of growth from the last 10 years. 2)If approved, it would extend the length of the taxes approved by the Legislature.
Looks like caps and taxes on one Proposition with no voter input on Prop. 1A!
Want is timline for arguments against Prop.1A and rebuttal to argument in favor of Prop. 1A due??
5/19/2009 the higher fee for DMV license renewal goes into effect.
4/30/2009 is the due date for license renewal for our 24 year old Nissan Pickup. In 1908 the fee was $ 65.00 total
But on 2/27/ 2009 we received the renewal notice , the total fee being $80.00. California Government is dishonest; because the Pickup fee is due prior to May 19, 2009.
I may have lost the original post?????
The time has arrived for change alright, I can feel that wind. Until the first new dam is funded I'm not voting yes for any idea hatched in Sacramento.
This is really enough, It is time that we stop allowing them to continue to steal from the tax payers. We need to stop all of these Measures.
Sacramento needs to get their hands out of our pockets. Remember to vote NO on All come May 19th, 2009!
