I have no problem with medical marijuana prescribed when there's a medical need. I'm just wondering why you have to smoke it. Seems to me that a pill with the marijuana ingredients could be developed and you take one with a glass of water. Why is medical mariuana the only medicince that you smoke? That part seems very unhealthy.
The medical marijuana issue has arisen in Fresno over the controversial effort to open a medical pot dispensary in Fresno's Tower District.
So if you can smoke marijuana to get its medical benefits, why can't I smoke my blood pressure medicine? Now I don't smoke so this is more rhetorical than an actual question.
But picture a television ad for a well-known blood pressure medicine and a guy is smoking it through a bong. Big smile on his face. The narrator comes on and says, "Ask your doctor if this medicine is right for you." The bong smoker flashes a peace sign.
Now that will lower your blood pressure.
Come on; Dr. Boren. You seem to know no more than I do oabout the properties of hemp. And what I know is practically nothing. Maybe it really helps cancer patients to tolerate chemo-therapy. Maybe it goes into the system via breathing and not digestion. So lets temper levity with actual investigation about the medical side of it.
There is a pill you can get from your physican called Marinol. A number of years ago my mother was on chemotherapy and unfortunately she had diminished appetite and foods tasted funny from this medication. We tried the Marinol and it really had no affect. We were able to obatin the natural product and bakes some brownies and it did help increase her appetite. I have some reservations about stores selling this product.
I think there are those that have a legitimate medical need and if it can help I have no problem but I am concerned that for some it is just a way of being able to smoke legally.
If marijuana keeps a patient on chemo therapy from "heaving up his/her shoes" the use of it has my support.
When I got pregnant, I was about to literally vomit my life away that my gynecologist scheduled me for a theraputic abortion. Wanting the child, I refused and suffered on. In the 4th month the vomiting suddenly stopped. At the expected day, I had an eight pound 15 ounce daugher in natural child birth. But those four months I would have smoked anything to stop the vomiting.
I have experience with medical marijuana. My husband can't keep food in his system long enough to nourish his body. So, he uses medical marijuana (MM) to regulate his digestive system. There are other nutrients that he takes to help but without the MM he would be without the ability to eat a meal.
There are other ways to injest the THC in marijuana. The marijuana can be combined with oil or butter and cooked down. Then you can use that to bake into goodies, like brownies, cookies, etc. There are also hard candies that can be made with the MM butter. It seems to me if MM were regulated/made legal, it would be possible to make capsules filled with THC so that smoking was not necessary. Perhaps someday.
I hope Fresno does get their own clinic. Right now a patient has to go as far north as Sacramento or to Visalia, Tulare and other points south to purchase their meds as well as paying astronomical amounts of money to purchase said meds. It's a good thing your blood pressure meds can be purchased at the pharmacy on the way home from work, rather than a drive of an hour or more. :o) Now, if only health insurance were more widely available!
From my much younger days I know that it will increase your appetite so if it helps someone that is truely ill from cancer or some other serious illness and it helps them then go for it but it is a legal way to get it out on the street and that is not acceptable.
Hey Jim, maybe you need to hit the oxygen-bar,no tar or nicotine.
Its not medical pot Come on people its medical marijuana or medicine .GET OUT OF THE 60s. You all have limited knowledge about the subject if your not a patient, so please stay out of me and my doctors req medine please.
Good news Bong Breath...Local help for users may be on the way.I maintain a commercial property in Auberry and a couple of weeks ago I was asked by the property owner to be available to open up a vacancy at 10am as a prospective medical supplies co. was looking for a suitable location.About 11am a dirty mini-van on a spare shows up and two guys that look like drug dealers walk up with a manilla folder with papers falling out. Turns out they are looking for a site for a county funded(you guessed it)marijuana dispensary. The owner went through the motions with them but was not impressed and thought the "DEAL" probably wouldn't go down. They said "Don't Worry" about whatever the rent was because there's a huge amount of money in marijuana and there would be 7/24 armed security. After the meeting they pulled up their pants, hopped in their dirty minivan and took off.We had a good laugh thinking about all the scenarios that would develop and I asked if the "DEAL" did go down if I could install some vending machines for snacks and be the custodian. It might not happen in Auberry but if two guys that look like drug dealers with a manilla folder of papers(not rolling) show up in a dirty silver mini-van running on a spare tire in a strip mall near you...call me.I want the concession on those vending machines.
What prompted your response I have no idea. There are many variations of chemotherapy and some are very unpleasant. You will try and do about anything to get the patient some relief.
Based on your response I think you may need to see your physician. You may be suffering from a chronic case of cranial rectal inversion.
Chronic cures a lot of ills. If everyone just got high on pot, this world would be a happier place. Of course, the bad apples do ruin any arguement for Mary Jane. There's a was a buyer that killed his cheeba dealer not to long ago. I'll have to say that money was the main reason the murder happened. In this economy, people will do anything for extra loot.
Its cool with me if someone really needs it but let the doctors hand it out to those that do not just some folks on the street. My husband is a phamacist and presciptions are forged all the time. They have to know everyone that comes in and remember the forgers for the next time because they always come back. Cant you just see the pot growing behind the hospital. Pot and Marijuana are the same thing no matter if its medicinal or for pleasure its just the people that use it for fun that call it pot.
"Hey Jim, maybe you need to hit the oxygen-bar,no tar or nicotine."
"Based on your response I think you may need to see your physician. You may be suffering from a chronic case of cranial rectal inversion." Jim
I don't savvy the interchange. But me thinks it is nauseating.
My nephew was on chemotherapy for two years. It saved his life; however, he told his wife and kids that if the cancer came back he would let it take him. He could not go through chemotherapy again. If marijuana would soften the horrible effects of chemo and give him the will to fight, then it is worth it; legally or illegally.
I agree aks with the use of marijuana if it will help someone who is suffering. I know a lot of people who have endured chemotherapy. Virtually everyone said they would not do it a second time, just as you stated.
"Spicoli" aka. mdub420...defenite user based on the insider use of lingo and the 420 part of your name.Perhaps you believe in the pre-emptive part of self-medicating?
Why can't we all just get abong?
I've always found it interesting that alcohol is legal, and we spend billions (rather than make billions) to outlaw marijuana. At the same time, because it's illegal, this empowers the drug lords. But that's another argument.
Brian, it would have been hard for me to refrain from the jokes if I had been with you to meet the "van dudes."
Jimbo...honestly I can't imagine a pill having the same effect as smoking, although a pill would probably be healthier.
"No Nickname Scot"...Dittos Bro
the pot laws have done much more damage than the pot itself
