President Obama's inauguration address didn't employ the soaring rhetoric we've come to expect from his campaign, but it did set a tone for the beginning of his administration -- sober, yet hopeful. That's the conclusion of our editorial today.
Personally, I'm a little disappointed in the guy. He's been president for more than 24 hours and still hasn't fixed all our problems. I mean, he spent his whole first night in office dancing with his wife. Jeez, what a lightweight. I guess all those right-wing critics had him pegged after all.
Russ...the slobbering over Obama doesn't suit you and sarcasm is not your strength...try something else.Do you guys regret originally picking the guy with ADA-"Another Democrat Adulterer"(aka.John Edwards)first as the choice of "Duh Bee"? Who was supposed to bring "The Kool-Aid"...You or Jim?
Brian Murray: I'd rather have a sarcastic Russ than a racially clueless Brian. Remember this post of yours?
"Although slavery was/is a bad thing...Would todays blacks now in the USA be better off if there had been no slavery.Would Kobe Bryant even know what a basketball is?Would Colin Powell have lived past his third birthday?Would Oprah have been sexually mutilated?Slavery of blacks in the USA was a terrible thing but it got most of todays blacks to a place where they can now enjoy a life that is much better than for those in most African countries.200 years in the USA has made a huge difference."
Just so we can remind Beehive readers of some of the gems in your own body of work.
"Juanito"...Here's another little one for your racist catalog.Would Mexico be a larger third world toilet if the US had not fought for,WON,and taken over the territories it had from Mexico?Put your spin on that one amigo.
I will take a wait and see attitude on Obama. Talk is cheap and fixing the economic crisis won't happen the price tag of his inaugaral celebrations. Where is the money gonna come from for an economic stimulus. Is he just going to order more monry to be printed up. It is supposed to be in the neighborhood of 825 million. These are the things I want to see and know.
Wow Brian...a new low. To the point of leaving me speechless and backing away. Way over the line I think.
Where is the money gonna come from for an economic stimulus.
Actually, with short-term rates on Treasury notes at 0%, there has probably never been a better time for the government to borrow a lot of money. The deficit is going to go up with or without the stimulus (due to declining tax revenues). At the very least, a big enough stimulus will put a lot of people to work - both easing the suffering and increasing economic activity, while at the same time helping to rebuild our nation's long-neglected infrastructure.
So, our choices are (1) no stimulus, a somewhat smaller increase in the deficit, a longer, deeper recession, more suffering, no infrastructure improvements, or (2) a large-enough stimulus package, a bigger increase in the deficit (temporarily), a shorter recession, less suffering, more jobs, much needed infrastructure improvements.
The choice looks pretty easy to me.
Scot...What do you find offensive or are you unwilling to look at things objectively or discuss uncomfortable opinions? Usually the ones throwing around the race card are the racists."Juanito" is a punk and thinks he's cute by calling me "racially clueless". He knows nothing about me personally and that my extensive interaction with people of all races causes these questions to come to mind.I know who I am and what I've done and continue to do to help all people so his and your holier than thou response means nothing to me.Maybe you ought to look inward and deal with your own bogotry rather than trying to push it off on me.
You have never heard anything come out of my mouth that is racist or bigoted in any form. My actions, and my words speak for themselves. You on the other hand speak bigoted, call it the truth, and then presume to tell us what a saint you are. No, there's no way in hell you're going to make me a bad guy here. Do you know Juan? Have you met? What makes him a punk? Because he called you out for something you said? Who's afraid of the truth?
"and then presume to tell us what a saint you are." Scot referring to Brian Murray's post calling another blogger a punk.
I do not know Mr. Brain Murray in person, but what I am forced to gather from his posts is anything but saintly. If I had a dollar for each of Murray's posts that does not attack or insult someone, I would not be able to buy a loaf of bread. On the other hand, could I collect a dollar for each of the insults and attacks he handed out the past six months, I would have a nice income supplement. (I am one of his favorite targets. My major crime seems to be that I am foreign born.)
