Mayor-Elect Ashley Swearengin will keep Georgeanne White, Mayor Alan Autry's chief of staff, as her chief of staff on a temporary basis. White then will remain in the Swearengin administration as the permanent director of government affairs. That's a role that she's been doing very capably in the Autry administration, along with running the executive staff. Right now White will be interim chief of staff for Swearengin and government affairs director. Swearengin has a chief of staff in mind, but has not finalized the deal.
David Schecter, co-chair of the mayor-elect's transition team, will serve as a part-time special advisor to Swearengin for the first six months of the administration. He was Swearengin's campaign manager. This is how his role was explained in a news release: "He will provide research support and policy analysis on key initiatives during the continued transition, with particular focus on implementation of Mayor-elect Swearengin's 'First 100 Days' initiatives."
Randy Reed will be Swearengin's director of communications and Mike Lukens will be her press secretary.
On Tuesday, Swearengin named Craig Scharton as her director of downtown and community revitalization for the city. The downtown team also includes Elliott Balch, downtown revitalization manager; Eaine Robles-McGraw; neighborhood revitalization manager; Tavis Sheridan, local business initiatives manager; Wilma Quan, urban planning specialist, and Eizabeth Jonasson, revitalization funding coordinator.
