Fresno Bee artist SW Parra, whose editorial cartoons have won many awards, has again been honored for his work on our pages. He has a cartoon published in the 2009 edition of the Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year. The cartoon is about alternative fuel vehicles, and was published when gas prices were approaching $5 per gallon. The cartoon, which ran in The Bee on April 18, is pictured here.
Parra's editorial on "Gas Pains" took second place in the California Newspaper Publishers Association's editorial cartooning category earlier this year. He has won that category several times.
Cool. Congrats to SW!
For that... an award was given? How much does this person get paid? Maybe I made a serious vocational error and gave up crayons too soon.
I'd like to offer up my congratulations as well. The best honor is to be recognized by your peers. I've always liked Rex Rabin's work too.
An incestual little group these newspapers.
No different than the the Oscars, the Emmys, the Grammys, the Tellys (my editing has contributed to 14 of these awards) and the Tonys.
Incestuous? Sure, I suppose you can look at it that way.
