Or maybe it won't be Hillary

UPDATE: Latest story says he's weighing Clinton and Richardson for the post.

Richardson.JPG
The Associated Press just moved a bulletin quoting a Democratic official who says President-elect Obama is discussing the secretary of state position with New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson. Of course, as of right now, it's an unnamed source, so who knows how that will turn out.

And I don't doubt that Obama will put Clinton's talents to good use, somewhere in his administration.

President-elect Obama will be making a great mistake in bringing Sen. Clinton in his Cabinet. Mrs. Clinton does not have a formulated ideology and that's why she lost the primary election. She can be a valuable Democrat in the Senate, where she can steer needed legislation very effectively, and become a formidable presidential candidate in 2016.

President Obama needs to move away from the Clinton centerists and start building his own team. He is dipping too much into the Clinton trough!

Hillary Clinton and all of the old guard of
previous administration should not be considered
for any positions in this new administration.
The Clinton era has a lot
of negative baggage that would not be any good
when it comes to setting policy for the Obama
administration. Our country is in dire straights
because of previous administration mistakes and
now we should solicit former representatives like
Clinton to advice our President? This is sheer
madness. We have two wars going on and we need
new policy when it comes to resolving serious
conflict. Relying on military solutions has not
worked in the past and will not work in the future.
THe Clinton administration has done little or
nothing to stop our inflated military spending.
We would have more of the same if Hillary was
chosen as our new secretary of state.

Clinton administration...Hmmm.. Didn't the Clinton administration get rid of the federal deficit? Oh and I remember the balanced budgets he passed as well. The first one made news; "First Balanced Budget in Thirty Years." Then there were the budget surpluses. Clinton still has a huge network of international contacts and alis. What good will all this do us? Those Clinton bastards!

Kim makes you wonder who the fiscal conservatives are. Proof that Being a Democrat Fiscal Conservative is better then a Republican Fiscal Conservative.

Glory days, glory days, but first we have to clean up after the big fat elephant under the banner of the Old Bush Administration.

Glory Days? There was no balanced budget or surplus...just smoke and mirrors. But if it makes you feel better about being a Democrat...go for it.I was right Rich...you'll be blaming George W. Bush for any perceived negative till you are dust.

Brian,

You don't believe we had a worse budget now durring your buddy's Administration then former President Bill Clinton? The only "smoke" coming from the "smoke and mirrors" is from your funny looking pipe.

The only denial it seems is when you are dust.

Brian - Why is it that nothing is true unless it matches your opinion? The air isn't dirty, people don't die from the effects of bad air, the budget was never balanced, George Bush has no culpability for the current problems... Just to check, is the earth still round because I need to know since I will be traveling soon.

All you Democrats can lay the blame on Bush but it is so not his fault. The Dems have been in majority of Congress for two years so theres your sign. They are to blame.

Jackie, was that tongue-in-cheek? Or do you truly believe that after almost 8 years in office, nothing can be blamed on Bush? (And if so, can we expect that you will blame nothing on Obama the next 4 or 8 years?)

Jackie - The Republicans were in control of Congress from 1995 until 2007 and yet you think the Democrats have caused all this trouble in two years? If Bush is not to share the blame for actions of his presidency, what has he been doing in the White House all this time? I thought the first lady was supposed to pick the china. Maybe when he got into his office, he couldn't figure out how to get back out because it was oval, the Dems took control of the country while he was walking in circles.

Brian - I have never actually seen you pay taxes does that mean it is smoke and mirrors?

Not that he is blameless but he cant do anything without Congress backing him so if everything whe did was bad then they have to be blamed as well. Im in Vegas so I gotta run.

It's Hillary if congress confirms her. What a waste of her legal mind. I hoped she'ld get on the Supreme Court to offset the Bush yes man before it is too late for We the People. Habeas corpus has prcatically been suspended by the Bush adminstration, without a peep out of the justices. America weep for thyself.

Here are some helpful hints for Kim, Rich and Mike:

1) In the U.S., the president doesn't pass budgets, balanced or otherwise. Congress does. Wake up and read the Constitution.

2) Republican-controlled Congresses passed the "balanced" budgets of the Clinton years.

3) Democrat-controlled and Republican-controlled Congresses passed the unbalanced budgets. Most recently the Democrats did during the last 2 fiscal years.

4) It was extremely easy for Clinton to "balance" his proposed federal budgets by decimating our national defense and leaving our military woefully unprepared, underequipped, and overextended for the next administration, and for the nation's next generations. It's also completely disingenuous to blame that next administration (Bush) for having to borrow money not just to mitigate the damage done to the military budgets, but also at the same time to maintain the explosive growth of Clinton-era entitlements and federal social programs.

5) As happens so often on this website, Brian is absolutely right in the face of ignorant criticism, in that the "balanced" budgets of the 1990s were only so-called because several TRILLION dollars of unfunded Medicare and Social Security liabilities are not included, a perfect example of "smoke & mirror" accounting that would land any private executives in jail.

The nation is still paying for the "glory days" of the 1990s, militarily, economically, culturally, politically, and internationally. See what we've had to deal with in the 21st century with Al-Qaeda, Iraq, North Korea, China, Russia, Iran, Bosnia, Africa (the continent, there are several examples there), Haiti, Venezuela, let alone here domestically, to see the results.
