The latest vote count in Fresno County has pushed Democrat Barack Obama into the lead in the San Joaquin Valley's most populous county. Fresno County has long been a red county in presidential elections, but Obama's candidacy has changed that calculation -- for now. There are more votes to be counted and Obama's lead is a tiny one. Republican John McCain could go back on top in the next update coming from Fresno County.
McCain had been leading slightly in Fresno County on election night, but provisional and absentee ballots that were tabulated on Friday put Obama ahead. Here is the latest Fresno County presidential results:
BARACK OBAMA, 101,788, 49.08%
JOHN MCCAIN, 101,428 48.91%
With several thousand votes still to be counted, McCain could regain the lead in Fresno County. He only trails Obama by 360 out of the 208,672 votes that have been tabulated so far in Fresno County. Elections officials Salazar said the next vote update will be Wednesday.
Jim,
Thanks for the update.
My hopeful bet is that Obama will hold the lead in Fresno County.
While it might be of some interest, MOI fesses up to feeling less than pleased with the results.......that is the way of it, and times heals all wounds.
Would be far more interested in seeing how many wite-ins Donald Duck got for mayor, or was MOI the only daft person to do so. Were there any other write-ins?
I really don't want it to be red or blue and Obama has already won so it is irrelevant as I it cant change that outcome. I will just hope for the best he can do and hope it is enough to save our great country.
Been feeling a little blue for about a week now...it'll pass.
