Betcha can't wait for this one: Fran Florez, who narrowly lost the District 30 seat in the Assembly to Republican Danny Gilmore, says she'll be back to try again in 2010.
In a memo to reporters and supporters, Florez wrote, "Just as my opponent Danny Gilmore didn't let his narrow loss deter him from seeking office again, neither will I as the 2010 elections come near."
Gilmore's "narrow loss" came to Democrat Nicole Parra, who then turned around and endorsed Gilmore over Florez this time. Parra and Fran Florez's son, state Sen. Dean Florez, have been locked in an epic vendetta for years.
Nor is Parra, who's termed out and headed for the door on Monday, leaving the scene quietly. According to Capitol Report, Parra held court inside Gilmore's new office this week. The sign on the door says "Danny Gilmore," but Parra's name was stuck below it on a Post-it note.
Ready for another sequel?
All Her commercials disgusted me.
I am so pleased She lost.
Is that a promise or a threat?
I was referring to the headline Rich. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Rich...I knew if I could just hang on long enough we would agree on something..."Ma Florez".
I don't like political dynasties in the same locale. There is always the spector of the elected and/or appointed becoming proprietary of the bailiwick (so to speak.)
