Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has finally announced his positions on the state propositions on the Nov. 4 ballot. Thanks to John Myers, Sacramento Bureau chief for KQED, the PBS station in San Francisco, for the news. Here's the list:
Proposition 1A -- High Speed Rail Bonds: YES
Proposition 2 -- Farm Animal Confinement Standards: NO
Proposition 3 -- Children's Hospital Bond: YES
Proposition 4 -- Parental Notification of Abortion: YES
Proposition 5 -- Nonviolent Drug Offenses, Sentencing & Parole: NO
Proposition 6 -- Law Enforcement Funding, Gang Penalties: Neutral
Proposition 7 -- Renewable Energy Standards: NO
Proposition 8 -- Same-Sex Marriage Ban: NO
Proposition 9 -- Victims' Rights & Parole: NEUTRAL
Proposition 10 -- Alternative Fuel Bonds: NO
Proposition 11 -- Redistricting: YES
Proposition 12 -- Veterans Bond Act: YES
Not many surprises, though it's gratifying to see that a guy who owns eight Hummers can support high-speed rail.
How refreshing!
"A chain of 13 weekly newspapers in Colorado has halted all political coverage this week. The Colorado Community Newspapers group reaches more than 125,000 households and boasts quote, 'Our news coverage focuses on the events that have particular interest to our subscribers —— the events that happen across the street, across town or in their own backyard.'"
"So why are the newspapers not reporting on politics in the days before an election when reader interest in politics is at its peak?"
"THE PAPERS SAY THEY WANT TO, ALLOW READERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP THEIR STANCE WITHOUT MEDIA INTERFERENCE.'"

TC, you should start your own blog if you're going to spam here.
And really, stopping political coverage a week before the election. Surely, now is the time for people who have been inundated with campaign issues for the last two years to make an informed decision without media interference. That's the dumbest load of crap I've heard today.
So the guy with the eight Hummers supports highspeed rail after all. But what has he got against treating animals humanely? And that from a native of a European nation that does not even allow , anylonger, the cropping of dog's ears and tails without a health necessity.
I would welcome a repieve from the media at this point. I am so sick of all the commercials that my mute button is going to wear out.
I think TC would rather have a newspaper burning at McCain/Palin rally.
If you're sick of the "media," who's forcing you to watch?
Gee! Am I the only one who was shocked by Arnold's NO vote on humane tratment for farm animals.
Isabell, in this day and age, it's difficult to be shocked by anything anymore.
I believe the Governor has spent all his No Chicken Gitmo capital on Condor Salvation.
I was at the zoo in Germany; which is quite different from ours. They have created enclosures that don't require bars for the most part. However, nothing is perfect and a condor got loose and flew up to me on the path. He was HUGE, graceful and majestic. We stared at each other, walked around each other and my first thought was, "What a shame this bird is endangered." Bart blogged once about the magic of seeing a moose up close and personal in the wild. I believe him as to what an experience that would have been. Why isn't the condor just as important. Their biological makeup is highly damaged by the lead in shot. All we have to do is stop using lead shot in their territory. Yes, it costs a bit more but who cares if it will help save one of God's creatures. I hope someday you all will get to see a Condor up close and personal.
