Mayoral candidate Henry T. Perea has picked up a major endorsement with the announcement that U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein is backing the City Council member. The Democratic senator is one of the most popular politicians in the state, and has a reputation for working with Republicans on issues important to California. This should give Perea's campaign a big boost heading into the last days of the campaign.
Although the Fresno's mayor's race is a non-partisan office, Perea, a Democrat, and opponent Ashley Swearengin, a Republican, have touted their party affiliations in the race to succeed Alan Autry. The last two Fresno mayors -- Autry and Jim Patterson -- have been Republicans. You have to go back to Karen Humphrey's election as mayor in 1989 to find a Democrat as mayor of Fresno.
Here's a quote from Feinstein, which was posted on Perea's campaign Web site:
"Having served as Mayor of San Francisco, I know firsthand the tough challenges cities face," Senator Feinstein said. "Henry T. Perea is focused on tackling the issues affecting Fresno residents most -- public safety, jobs and air quality. I have enjoyed a strong working relationship with Mayor Alan Autry over the last 8 years and I look forward to working with Henry to make sure that Fresno gets it's fair share of resources in the fight to improve the quality of life for local residents."
Who cares what Dianne Feinstein does?
MOI does!!! MOI thinks Dianne Feinstein is the Cat's Meow but on this, we part ways. MOI lived in Bay Area during her time as mayor and can tell you true, she is in a class by herself as mayors go. Perea is NO Dianne Feinstein, one can only wonder why he got the nod, unless it is just a case of going with party lines.
Mind, Senator Feinstein may well be thinking of going for the Office of Governor to end her career and feels that a Democrat in the Central Valley might help her in a run for that office.
Since MOI has already cast vote, Senator Feinstein's plug has no value to MOI, hmmmmmmmmm, wonder how she feels about 'Donal Duck, the write in vote MOI cast?
I interrupt this celebration to congratulate my Senator on her recovery.
Please commence with the rose petals.
I like Feinstein but am not too fond of Perea. There has got to be a reason for her endorsement but I don't see it. I hope it's not just a party-line type thing.
Why bother to vote for a Mayor? Autry's Atrocities live on .....

When I saw this I had to see what "Bubby" (aka.MOI) thought as he has this fascinating admiration for DiFi although he's a right- wingerdinger. I have no horse in this race... and curiosity now satisfied I shall move on.
