'This is our America' -- more voices for Obama

A Yahoo news article reports that Black-Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am has produced another star-studded video music tribute in support of Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama.

The first video, which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, received more than 5 million hits on YouTube.

Not all members of the Hollywood crowd you keep writing about agree on Obama. Here are some quotes that ran in the Wall Street Journal yesterday from one famous female actor who actually dedicates time to traveling overseas and working with the UNHCR (as opposed to making music videos):

"What does it say about the Democratic Party that it seems poised to nominate someone who, on the most pressing concern of the day, is less morally serious than a Hollywood starlet?

"Actress Angelina Jolie recently visited Iraq in her role as a 'goodwill ambassador' for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. In a Washington Post op-ed, Jolie urges a continued U.S. presence in Iraq for humanitarian reasons:

'My visit left me even more deeply convinced that we not only have a moral obligation to help displaced Iraqi families, but also a serious, long-term, national security interest in ending this crisis. Today's humanitarian crisis in Iraq--and the potential consequences for our national security--are great. Can the United States afford to gamble that 4 million or more poor and displaced people, in the heart of Middle East, won't explode in violent desperation, sending the whole region into further disorder? . . . As for the question of whether the surge is working, I can only state what I witnessed: U.N. staff and those of non-governmental organizations seem to feel they have the right set of circumstances to attempt to scale up their programs. And when I asked the troops if they wanted to go home as soon as possible, they said that they miss home but feel invested in Iraq. They have lost many friends and want to be a part of the humanitarian progress they now feel is possible. It seems to me that now is the moment to address the humanitarian side of this situation. Without the right support, we could miss an opportunity to do some of the good we always stated we intended to do.'

"It's quite a contrast with the attitude of Democratic presidential front-runner Barack Obama, who said last summer that even preventing genocide was not a sufficient reason for a continuing presence in Iraq."

I commend Jolie for her humanitarian efforts but she could do more here as well. She is just looking for her next kid to adopt from another country or where she wants to give birth to her child. I hear it is to be in France. Whats wtong with being an American. Those in Hollywood have no bearing on who I will vote for. When will people finally realize they are just people like all of us except they have money.
