If you want to brighten up friends who may be going through a tough time, send them the link to a heart-warming story from The Bee about our firefighters who've been dispatched to work on the Southern California fires. It redeems your faith in the ability of average, everyday folks to turn evil into good. I collect these stories, so I'm filing it in my inspiration folder.
We wrote about this in an editorial called "Generosity in spite of tragedy" and it's about a group of people in an Applebee's restaurant in San Diego County who spontaneously reached out to Valley firefighters with applause and donations. The firefighters were so touched, they matched the money with donations out of their own pockets for the Red Cross. It's a keeper. The link is right here.
