This morning, I learned of my early birthday present from my sister-in-law. We're going to see the Dixie Chicks next month at the Save Mart Center in Fresno!
The country trio sparked controversy with their remarks about President Bush a few years ago. When they postponed a number of concert dates earlier this year, including the originally planned Fresno date, critics said it was because their political views had hurt their popularity.
I care more about their music than their politics. I don't go to a lot of concerts or buy music by many artists these day, but I like the Dixie Chicks.
And the beauty of being an American is the freedom to say what you believe, even if that view is unpopular.
Rock on, Dixie Chicks!

Can I get an amen? I'm not a big fan of their political views either, but happy b-day sis! We'll have a great time listening to their music; and if they break into political commentary, we'll take a bathroom break! :)
I personally will celebrate Jill's right to get a bathroom break if they get politickin'. The same way I celebrate their freedom to speak out when possibly an unpopular opinion, that I may agree with, would be spoken. I support their music, views and their careers as well. Great music!
I find it funny though back right when they were unfairly slammed, I was playing their music driving down Clovis Avenue, only to be flipped off by a guy in a Honda next to me as he yelled "Dixie Chicks ...." Well, it wasn't nice. Funny thing was that he had a bumper sticker on saying "God Bless America."
Well, yes indeed, and all of its liberties too!!! For or against what they may be politickin' about, it'll be a great show and I won't miss it!
Dixie Chicks? More like crazy chicks. Boring music and boring liberal bias crazy talk. Hi Fresno.
The Chicks have the guts to say what many won't for fear of persecution, and to say things that conservative blockheads have yet to realize -- George W. Bush is a train wreck the size of a continent, happening in slow-motion. He is a combination of a intellectually stunted God-grasper and wallet-hugging predator, topped off with a arrogance that only be compared to vapor. I consider the Dixie Chicks heroes (and damn fine musicians), and in time so will prevailing wisdom, as George W. Bush is gradually revealed to be a colossal screw-up to the tune of death unleashed.
I agree monumentally with the Dixie Chicks, George Bush is a political catastrophe. He first of all, is a complete and total idiot and his views on worldy matters are arrogant and not thought out well enough. The Dixie chicks are expressing freedom of speech by being courageous and using their entertainers reputation to have their opininons widely heard. I think the people who persecute people like The Dixie Chicks are tyrants and they are not respecting the free rights and beliefs our founding fathers set up for us. People like George bush (and his biased followers) are making our fair and balanced system of government corrupt, and unstable. Also, I could'nt like the Dixie Chicks music more now since they stood up and spoke their mind.
