If Gavin jumps in, what will Dean do?
Speculation is building that San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom might jump into the race for lieutenant governor. The San Francisco Chronicle's Matier & Ross were the latest to fan the flames and in a column published today, suggested that if Newsom gets in, Valley state Sen. Dean Florez might get out:
"The two other announced Democrats for the job are L.A. City Councilwoman Janice Hahn (who filed her campaign papers Tuesday) and soon-to-be-termed-out state Sen. Dean Florez of Shafter (Kern County). If Newsom does run, however, we're told Florez will probably drop out."I ran the possibility by Florez, and here is what he said in an email:
"Like I've said before I recognize that everything is fluid, but I have $1 million dollars in cash to spend on my race, what do the others have?? Didn't work this hard to quit over what "might" happen due to Gavin Newsom entering the race with no money ..." But he then added: "Fluid race, stay tuned."
We will.

Comments:
All Florez is concerned about is money, and who has given him the most money gets his vote. We need the "fluid" to wash Dean out to sea!

On behalf of the poor and unemployed in the San Joaquin Valley, let's hope this is the end of the road for Dean Florez. He has impoverished our citizenry, worked tirelessly to bankrupt our business community, boosted Valley unemployment and is certainly the poster child for entrenched partisanship in Sacramento. He even sided up with the vegans of the Humane Society of the United States to attack the very farmers that provide food for our people. His tenure has so damaged our Valley infrastructure that we can only hope that it is repairable. Cheers to the Democrat or Republican who excises the Dean Florez cancer on California!
