arrowAnyone notice a pumpkin shortage?

My online cooking message board is a abuzz with people worried about a pumpkin shortage. One non-local woman reported going to five stores before finding it.

Turns out wet weather in some areas of the country effected this year's crop. But according to this story, the shortage is over and cans of pumpkin are on their way to grocery store shelves in time for Thanksgiving and the all-important pie. Some stores said they never had a problem.

I bought a can last week at Save Mart to make pumpkin chocolate chip bars and pumpkin muffins with. That store, at Clinton and Blackstone avenues, had plenty of it.

Our ag reporter tells me the central San Joaquin Valley doesn't grow many pumpkins. The ones that do grow here are mostly sold at local stands.

Have you bought any canned pumpkin lately? Noticed any shortages? And more importantly, what are you planning to make with the yummy stuff?
